Having health insurance can be costly, which is why many people are still uninsured. However, the cost of not being insured could be much higher–and not necessarily just financial cost either. Few things in life are more important than your health and to keep yourself in good shape you need to pay particular attention to preventative care. If you can’t afford to see the doctor regularly now, consider that health insurance will allow you to have regular checkups so that your doctor can keep an eye on your health. Also, doctors know the human body better than anyone—if you’re wondering how to get healthier, asking your doctor is a great place to start.

With regular checkups, if you are in the early stages of a disease, serious or otherwise, your doctor can diagnose it soon enough to help you recover with much more ease and comfort than would have been possible if it was discovered in an advanced stage. In the case of a serious condition such as cancer, health insurance could save your life by providing those checkups.

Other health insurance benefits include coverage for those with disabilities–helping to pay for a new wheelchair for example, or for physical therapy–and for those with long-term or lifelong medical conditions. Diabetics can get their insulin prescriptions at a discounted price with health insurance and can also see the doctor regularly for checkups to keep tabs on their condition, which is very important. Cancer patients can use their health insurance to pay for chemotherapy and other treatments.

When you’re sick, worrying about finances on top of everything else can be overwhelming and insurance can help apatient’s anxiety in that respect as well. If you don’t have health insurance, go check out online insurance quotes, compare several to find which is best for you — and get a plan started. You deserve a long and happy life and a small monthly payment is certainly worth that.

I know that my kids are still too young to worry about this, but I’ve been talking with a cousin lately about how to help the little ones learn to manage money. This is a skill that I feel needs to be learned; it isn’t something that is known inherently. I feel that there are some steps to take, when a child is learning about money.

First, when they are little, it can be a good idea to give them a piggy bank. All the pennies and random change that they find through the house should be put in the piggy bank. In fact, if I have change left over from shopping, I give it to them. This helps them understand that the money should be put away. Some say that an enclosed piggy bank is best, but I have found that a clear one works wonders. They are able to see how the money grows!

When the kids are a little older and able to take on responsibilities, it’s a good idea to give them chores, and an allowance based on the chores that they do. This money that they get can either continue to go in the piggy bank, or you can open a savings account for the child. Either way, it helps them continue to understand that money should be saved. As they get older, you may want to consider something like a prepaid credit card. This allows them to be able to start using the money that they have earned, and understand how you need to budget to be able to get what you want.

Teaching kids how to save and how to budget is something that is important as a parent. The better educated our children are, the better choices they will make in the future.

When you’re a mom, you can definitely be busy. Sometimes you don’t get much time for yourself, but it’s still a very rewarding job to have. Of course, you don’t want to be ‘just’ a mom. You still want to be the person you were before you had children, when you did things with friends and other family members. If life’s been hectic and you’ve lost touch with some of those people, now may be the time to get back together with them, even if it’s just over the phone or online. By doing a search for their names, you may be able to locate them and reconnect.

If they’re in the US, there is a white pages directory you can use online. If they’re in Canada, Canada 411 works well to find most people. Finding people from your past can really be a lot of fun. That’s especially true if you’re a stay-at-home mom and you’re looking for something to do during the day or you want more people to talk to. Children are wonderful, but the interaction you have with them isn’t the same as you would have with another adult. If you’re craving adult interaction, finding people you used to connect with can be a great way to get more activities into your life.

Some moms choose to stay at home, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but they can get bored once their children are in school and they’re by themselves for a large portion of the day. Some start up home-based businesses, or get part-time jobs, but there are plenty of other things you can do if those kinds of things don’t appeal to you. Getting together with friends and family can be one of those things, and it’s even more joyous when you reconnect with someone you haven’t seen in a long time.

So, you went out to lunch with the girls and you noticed something different. Your friend looks lovely. Not that she never did, of course, but she is glowing. No, she isn’t pregnant. She looks young and well rested. When you ask her what is new she gives a great big beaming smile. You continue to ask wondering why she is just grinning at you like a woman with a secret and finally, after some pressing, she tell you that she got her teeth whitened. Aha!

Cosmetic dentistry is growing in the industry of beauty. Naturally, people equate white teeth to health, youth, and vitality. Why wouldn’t they? Children don’t have yellow teeth. Aging and natural elements actually cause our teeth to yellow. Of course, outside elements do as well. When you have white teeth, you have more confidence and you have a strong glow about you.

Since we equate white teeth with a healthy glow, it is easy to neglect the most important parts of our mouth. The inside of our cheeks, the gumline, the back of the mouth and the roof of the mouth all play an important role in sustaining quality oral health. If you are interested in having a whiter set of chompers in order to improve your smile, you may be looking at this all wrong. First , look into the general health of your mouth. See your dentist regularly for maintenance and cleaning. Once you do this, you will notice that your overal health when it comes to the feeling of your cleansed mouth will improve your confidence immensely with your smile. So what if you have a little crooked of a smile? Your health care practioners and oral hygenists will all appreciate the way you care for your smile. If the foundation is there and you already know you have a healthy mouth, you may think twice about the cosmetic dentistry move. If you feel it will only enhance your already glowing smile, go for it. In the end, the health of your smile is more important than anything else.

The world is an uncertain thing — defined by fates that cannot always be determined, shaped to worries that can never be anticipated. The notion of planning for the future is a wasted one. Days come; days go; and the hours between are all unsure. And it’s this truth that has led you to save all dollars, to stuff them away in a bank account. They are not to be released unless an emergency occurs. They are instead to remain safe, gathering careful interest and tucked away from all temptation. You spend only what you must. You take only what you need. And every single penny is protected… even from your love of gaming.

The desire to join an online casino has plagued you often, but you assumed always that it was an impossibility. There were bills to pay and a family to fend for. You couldn’t dare toss your hard earned cash away. It would have been bordering on excess — and you have never fallen prey to that. So you avoided all sites; and you refused all promotions. Virtual casinos were simply not a choice you could make… or so you thought.

The truth, however, is that you do not have to waste your dollars by playing online games. You can instead experience all of the thrills but none of the worries with the aid of free accounts.

A free account is an option you can select within many casinos. Through this you can join as many rounds as you wish, master all the cards you want; but you will not have to offer any form of funds. The account is purely digital and all money within it is false. Each hand is played without risk.

There’s nothing more unsettling than sitting in the doctor’s office and hearing the words, you’ve got cancer.Suddenly, a multitude of thoughts go through your mind. You worry about your future, your family, your ability to work, and your chances for survival. Nobody wants to be in that situation. While there’s no absolute guarantee that you won’t get cancer, there are some things you can do to help prevent cancer. Here are some tips to try to avoid getting oral cancer.

1.	Don’t smoke. Smoking is one of the most dangerous and self-destructive habits you can participate in. Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, but it can also contribute to oral cancer.

2.	Avoid chewing tobacco. Right up there with smoking, chewing tobacco can increase your chances for cancer. The nicotine in tobacco destroys the inside of your mouth and leaves you susceptible to cancer.

3.	Watch your medications. While most medications are necessary and helpful, you can be cautious about medications you choose to take. For example, certain medications like birth control can cause different symptoms and side effects. If you are experiencing problems with our health, be sure to look into the side effects of birth control.

4.	Get plenty of exercise. We increase our body’s ability to fight disease when we are healthy and strong. Getting plenty of exercise will help you to stay healthy. If you were to get an awful cancer diagnosis, you’ll be better able to fight the disease if your body is strong.

5.	Eat healthy. Take in leafy greens, fruits, and water. Watch your red meat intake and avoid fatty foods. Eating healthy will keep your bodies functioning the way they are supposed to.

6. Brush up your knowledge about the side affects of birth control, as wrong birth control methods can have cancerous side effects too.

One thing that we learn as children growing up is that after meals or before bedtime is the right time to floss and brush our teeth.
It’s so hard to save for health care costs these days. With so many people out of work, and with the cost of everyday life skyrocketing, it is challenging to find room in the budget for doctors appointments, prescription drugs, and a cushion for unexpected emergency room visits. Having emergency cash on hand is no small feat, so it’s a good idea to take advantage of employer sponsored flexible spending accounts. If you aren’t familiar with these types of accounts, then this entry can serve as your basic education.

The flexible spending account is money that you can set aside at the beginning of the calendar year for a host of medical, dental, child care, and eye care expenses. Here’s how it works:

Your company will ask you to fill out a form requesting that money be set aside. You can pick whatever total makes sense for you. You want to give them your best guess because at the end of the year the money you don’t use is not returned to you. Factor in your fixed costs and add a little cushion room.

Then you tell your employer how they should take it out of your check. You can choose to have this done right away, or you can pay your employer in increments. Don’t worry if you choose the latter because the full benefit of your flexible spending account starts immediately even if you haven’t paid it all back.

What makes this feature nice is the money you set aside is tax free. This means the total amount of taxed income drops, which can even bring about other benefits. These plans make it so that you don’t have to worry about shoving money in your mattress for a rainy day; your employer will do it for you.

Imagine yourself working in a small town. Your office also doubles as the break room, which means that everyone spends their smoking breaks just a few feet from you. It’s the norm in a little country town, so no one thinks anything of it and simply gossips about the day and local town happenings. But you could be setting yourself up for lung cancer, oral cancer just from this small town office break room.

That is, until you discover you have lung cancer – lung cancer, and you haven’t smoked a day in your entire life. The only exposure you’ve had to anything that could cause such a tragic diagnosis is the 15 years you worked for the public office in that small town, inhaling second hand smoke.

According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), second hand smoke is “is the combination of sidestream smoke (the smoke given off by the burning end of a tobacco product) and mainstream smoke (the smoke exhaled by the smoker).” Other names for second hand smoke include involuntary smoking and passive smoking – how appropriate.

NCI states that there are more than 4,000 chemicals in second hand smoke, of which 250 are certainly harmful, with 50 of them linked directly to cancer. While the chemicals found in smoke vary depending on the type of tobacco, the way the manufacturer puts the product together and how users smoke the product, there is no doubt that it is harmful to those unwillingly exposed to it.

Included in those 50 lethal chemicals found in second hand smoke are arsenic, beryllium, chromium and nickel – all types of metal. Benzene, a chemical in gasoline, is also found in second hand smoke, as well as ethylene oxide, a chemical used in the sterilization of medical devices; polonium-210, which is radioactive; and vinyl chloride used in plastics manufacturing. What a scary thought – that these things infiltrate your system through second hand smoke.

The National Cancer Institute states that approximately 3,000 deaths occur each year from cancer as a result of exposure only to second hand smoke. Daily exposure to a smoker results in a 20 to 30 percent increased risk for lung cancer. Those numbers simply cannot be ignored. You can lower your risk of lung cancer and oral cancer if you take preventative measures now.

Perhaps you know someone in your life who is suffering from a crippling addiction to drugs and alcohol. You worry about the health effects–oral cancer, liver, cancer, lung cancer. You have begged, pleaded and even prayed that he would see the light and come to the path of sobriety, and for one reason or another your prayers were answered. The person you love admitted he had a problem and is about to enter a drug rehab program. You might be overjoyed but there is also a part of you that is scared to death for him. What if your loved get the horrible news he/she has orla cancer and turns back to drugs? Or worse? There is no telling how bad things are going to get from here on out and as you may well know there are more than enough horror stories out there of people who went through torture in rehab. So you might be wondering what’s in store for your loved one as they begin this painful process.

When people check-in to a rehab facility, they go through a physical examination as well as being required to empty out the contents of their personal belongings. This is for two reasons: the physical examination is to make sure the doctors know what the patient’s vital signs look like as well as knowing exactly what their blood work looks like, so they can be aware if there is any drugs currently in the system as well as any other ailments that might impede a patient’s progress.

The reason why patients must have their belongings searched is because many addicts will try and sneak drugs into the facility, which can compromise everyone’s sobriety. However, once the examinations have been done, the patients are allowed to unpack and get situated. They will not go to group on the first day and they will not go into one-on-one counseling. The road ahead for the addict is hard but the first day is made to be as easy as possible.

Over the last several years there has been a heightened awareness of skin cancer and its causes. Like oral cancer, skin cancer could be prevented. However, many people still don’t take the matter seriously enough to protect themselves from the risk factors – after all, you’ve got to have a good tan for the summer, right.

Back in the Elizabethan era the social norm was that the most beautiful women had the palest skin, so women would actually use white makeup to lighten the tone of their face. Too bad society no longer finds that beautiful, or we would all be making every effort possible to keep the sun-kissed look at bay. We can do more to prevent these cancers such as skin and oral cancer if we learned more about it.

A tan is the darkening of our skin in response to exposure to the sun’s UV rays. The fact remains that excessive sun exposures is one of the leading causes of skin cancer and, while the status quo is it be bronzed and beautiful, it isn’t much worth the effects obtaining a tan can have on your body over the length of your life.

According to the Mayo Clinic, there are several risk factors for skin cancer, many of which have to do with exposure to the UV radiation emitted from the sun:

• Less pigmentation (melanin) to the skin, i.e. fair skinned
• Sunburns, especially a history of them as a child or teenager
• Lengthy exposure to the sun (such as construction workers), especially without adequately applied sunscreen
• The use of tanning beds
• Living at high elevations puts you closer to the sun and exposes you to more radiation
• Living in an environment that is sunny throughout most of the year
• Abnormal moles, called dysplastic nevi, are more apt to become cancerous from sun exposure
• A family or personal history of skin cancer
• A weak immune system
• As you get older, the risk of skin cancer increases

Take precautions to avoid the risk factors for skin cancer as best you can and pay close attention to any changes on your skin and notify your doctor immediately if you see something strange. Early detection is key to effective treatment.
